The Challenge

Two Men – One Mission!

Dave Savage is a former professional triathlete who in 2002 competed at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Martyn Kennaugh
describes himself as an ‘ordinary bloke’ who decided to use the triathlon to lose some weight and get fit.

On Monday 25th July 2011, they set off on a swim across one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world to the Isle of Wight, before completing a 65 mile endurance run around it.

As if that were not enough and having completed their run they got back into the water and swam back again!

The event, months in the planning and involving a dedicated team of support personnel, caught the imagination of the media and all those who either saw or supported Dave and Martyn during their 3 day epic challenge.

But Why?

Both men have been touched by cancer and their goal is to help raise funds for a new and much needed early detection scanner for Southampton General Hospital, which they hope will go some way to helping spare others from the heartache and worry they both experienced themselves.
