The reason for The Great Wight Attack is simple – both men have been touched by cancer and are on a mission to raise money to help combat the disease.
In 2010, 39-year-old Dave’s world was shaken to the core when following a sudden collapse, he was told that he might be suffering from the disease, whilst at the same time, Martyn’s father had already been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was fighting for survival.
The news for Dave was positive – following several tests and a period of recovery he was cleared of the disease – the sad result for Martyn was that his father tragically passed away.
Now the two men are joining forces to help raise a minimum of £25,000 for Southampton General Hospital which will be used to buy the equipment needed to scan for early signs of pancreatic cancer.
